If it were me, I would want to take the position that
gave me the best experience for my career path as a
whole. If the internship will provide you with more
interesting projects and advance your skills where you
need them, go for that. Same applies for the job.
I tend to think that the skills are more important
than the "big name" on the resume. I have not been in
a hiring position yet, except to hire interns, and if
one washed windows at the Met and the other one did
their own exhibition in Anytown Historical Society,
I'd want the second one hands down. Extreme example,
but you get the point.
And as another Ohioan, who has been transplanted from
a NYC suburb, I can tell you that your cost of living
in Ohio will make that pay check stretch MUCH further!
On paper salaries look great, until you see the cost
of rent!
