The information below was published in today's PAG-Net
newsletter (published by the Fromm Group) and may be
of import to California art organizations. Please
note that I have no more information than what is
published here:

STATE FUNDS AVAILABLE

State: California

Agency: California Arts Council

Program: Local Arts Education Partnership Program
(Organizations)

Summary:
LAEP is a program that is jointly administered by the
CAC and the California Department of Education (CDE).
Its purpose is to involve local arts agencies, local
school districts or county offices of education, and
community arts resources in collaboratively planned
projects to strengthen arts education in California's
public schools.

Consortia may apply for grants of up to $20,000 per
year for up to three years.

Funding is from the sale of the arts license plate
sold through the Department of Motor Vehicles. The
intent of the program is to establish an arts in
education program in a local school district that will
be
sustained after the three year partnership.

Matching requirements increase each year from the
school district, going from $10,000 in the first year
to $20,000 in the second year and $30,000 in the third
year. The arts agency match is $10,000 for each year
of the partnership.

School districts that qualify in a LAEP partnership
are eligible to apply for ArtsWork grants from the
CDE.

Both the LAEP and the CDE's ArtsWork grant program
deadlines are the same: March 1, 2002.

Deadline: March 1, 2002
