I have experience with nicotine and cigarette smoke damage from moving into
an incredibly polluted cottage. The person who owned my house before smoked
multiple packs for over 30 years. I was successful even with a piece of
furniture I bought with the house. However, I DID NOT use museum quality
conservation practices.
I used diluted Lestoil and it was the ONLY thing that worked to get the
cigarette smell and the stains off the antique I bought with the house. It
turned out great.
Please do this at your own risk. As I said before this was my own
furniture. Good luck.
What experience does anyone have in removing cigarette smoke smell from wood
furniture? The furniture in question, a recent donation, was owned by a
life-long smoker. The upholstery was cleaned, removing most of the "scent,"
but the wood is permeated and still exudes a very strong odor. Any
recommendations?
