This summer I hiked 300 miles of the Appalachian Trail
to raise money for an environmental charity. I
created a website to track my progress. The website
was also an easy way for people to make donations. I
asked people to contribute a penny or more per mile.
I contacted local newspapers and they wrote stories
about the event. I had less than a month to organize
everything but the results were fantastic! I returned
home to a pile of letters and donations. I am not
suggesting that you hike the Appalachian Trail,
however, with Spring approaching you could organize a
walk/run to help raise funds. The walkers/runners
could either pay to participate in the race or they
could ask people to donate $1 for every mile they complete.
