A relatively new technology, bimodal transportation exists in the Roadrailer
made by Wabash National Corporation - this is a special highway trailer that
travels on rail with the simple addition of rail trucks / wheels, enabling
any little town with a paved siding to receive intermodal shipments - no
heavy machinery required. Amtrak and all the major railroads in N. America
are now beginning to use them. Info is available on the Wabash National
website and on the Norfolk Southern / Triple Crown website(s)

Subject: future train technology
I am looking for information on railroad technology and future technology of
railroads (prototypes, etc.) to use in an exhibit about the science of
trains. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Sara
