once again, does anybody know anything about the new Independence visitor center/ liberty bell/ constitution center in Philly and what they have done with the icehouse, privy, etc from Robert Morris's mansion (used as presidential mansion 1790-1800)?
the information i could find:
www.virginia.edu/gwpapers/project/new/icehouse.html
this site has the article from the Feb 23, 2001 Philadelphia Inquirer, as well as letters from Washington to Robert Morris and back as to the construction of an icehouse.
www.nps.gov/inde/archeology/icehouse.htm
this has other links from stuff they found when digging. i emailed the national constitution center and am about to email the independece center, or whatever its going to be called, about the icehouse, privy, etc, but i doubt they will respond.
www.constitutioncenter.org/sections/news/releases
www.independencevisitorcenter.com
though there was plenty of stuff on the artifacts dug up here on the websites of these two and how wonderful that they're going to be displayed in the museum, there was NOTHING on the presidential mansion.
