Title: Exhibits Intern
Supervisor: Director of Exhibits

General Function
Under general supervision, work as part of creative team in the Museum’s
Exhibits Department. This is an unpaid Intern position with a duration of a
minimum of three to six months. The Exhibits Intern will work primarily
with the Director of Exhibits and Exhibits Department Staff to help
inventory, document, and photograph objects in the assigned Collections
Storage Room.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Museum Studies or related field desireable.
Experience in both the Collections storage and maintainence.
Artifact handling experience.
Good computer skills and experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other
common programs.
Good communication and human relations skills are important to the
successful performance of this position.
Careful attention to detail and speed in documentation.

Principal Activities
1. Assist Exhibits Staff with photographing, inventorying, and
documentation of objects in the Museum’s collection.
2. Work with volunteers and staff toward the general operations of the
Exhibits Departments.
3. Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Condition
Portions of the day will require either working at a computer station, or
standing for extended periods of time. The Exhibits Intern will be part of
a professional team in a dynamic and fast-paced atmosphere.

Education, Experience and Training
Enrolement in a Bachelor’s program in Museum Studies or related field
desireable, with enrollment in Museum Studies Masters program, or similar,
preferred.  Knowledge of Collections and Exhibits procedures. Computer
skills and experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and other common
programs.  Attention to detail and high level of organization.
