Time and time again, someone will ask the list a
question about how to do something for a museum that
is really just standard nonprofit organization in
nature.
Yes, it's nice to get the insights of how a museum
operates, but so much of it is basic NPO law and
practice, and the documents requested are frequently
available in the archives of the Charity Channel. One
of the perks of being involved in those fora is that
one enrollment to any list also gets you their weekly
listing of jobs. It also bears noting that they have
fora for UK, Canadian, and Australian listers as well.
If you're having trouble juggling mail, I encourage
you to go digest--as have I on some of the more
overview fora--but I thought perhaps I should let you
see for yourself what's available. To enroll, go to
http://www.charitychannel.com/forums . It bears
noting that the lists are moderated and that the
founder of The Charity Channel is a rather dynamic
Southern California nonprofit attorney.
Here are the lists they presently have:

Covers all aspects of electronic philanthropy -
which includes on-line charitable giving but goes
substantially beyond that subject to explore how
electronic philanthropy impacts, interfaces with,
and integrates with the nonprofit organization’s

PRACTAC
Brings together nonprofit-sector practitioners and
academic researchers. One of the biggest challenges
for practitioners is having ready access to the best
that the academic world has to offer -- books,
research, theory, and perspective. Practitioners,
such as nonprofit officers, directors, and staff, as
well as those in specialized fields such as fund
development, will benefit from interacting with their
academic colleagues. Academic researchers can often
benefit from direct and easy access to practitioners,
as well; PractAc (pronounced "Pract-Ack") will
facilitate such collaborations.
RECOGNITION
Donor recognition is a topic that every nonprofit
organization that accepts charitable contributions
must handle, and handle well. This forum discusses

harnessed by nonprofit organizations to raise funds,
manage and mine donor databases, communicate with
supporters, and run more efficiently. The sheer pace
of technological advances raises new questions
concerning on-line accountability, ethics, privacy,
law, and more. TECHNOLOGY is focused on the broader
voluntary-sector social, management, strategic, legal,
policy, privacy, and other issues brought about by the
ever-increasing pace of technology -- especially
Internet technology. Despite its name, it is not a
"techno-geek" forum and welcomes individuals with
little or no technical background, those who have a
sweeping and in-depth knowledge of the Internet and
other technologies, and everyone in between.
UNITED_WAY
Open to anyone with interest in any aspect of the
United Way of America and its affiliates, including
fundraising and fundseeking, management and
