Depends.  Is it beeswax or parafin wax?  If it's parafin wax (most modern candles) I don't have an answer.  If its a beeswax candle, a piece of newspaper and an iron will do the trick.  Place the newspaper over the wax and the iron over the newspaper (on its lowest setting) and hold if for about 5 to 10 seconds.  Be sure the iron does not touch anywhere but on the paper.
