We have used the styrofoam wig heads on a couple of occassions for short exhibitions. We cover the styrofoam head (where the hat will sit) with ethafoam (aka microfoam) and then cover the entire head in loose cotton fabric. This makes it more attractive by hiding the face of the styrofoam head.

Hello All,

We are looking to purchase conservation hat mounts/head forms that would be
suitable for display. The cheapest I have found are about $100/piece --
that's out of our price range. The forms can either be the actual shape of
a head or the type that looks like a half circle on a short, footed stand.
Advice on in-house construction of these would also be appreciated. Many
thanks!
