For those of you who are also artists...
Artists Residencies: What's In It for You?
Panel Discussion
Thursday, August 2, 2001 from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Atlanta Contemporary Art Center
From isolated rural settings, where artists can focus intently on their work,
to urban environments where artists collaborate with communiites, artists
residencies provide unique opportunities for artists to develop new work,
re-assess artistic goals, and exchange ideas with fellow artists.
Metro Atlanta artists interested in learning more about how residencies can
help further their careers will be interested in the panel discussion "Is An
Artist Residency Right For You?," which will take place on Thursday, Aug. 2
from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center (535 Means Street,
Atlanta). The panel will explore the expectations and results of an artist
residency and provide tips on how to submit successful applications.
Panelists include Judy Barber, head of the Hambidge Center; Brad Freeman,
director of Nexus Press; and South African Malcolm Christian, founder of the
Caversham Centre for Artists and Writers. Artists Diane Solomon Kempler and
Jill Larson will speak about their own experiences in artists residencies.
The panel is co-presented by the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center and the
Fulton County Arts Council.
