Meegan,

1 page is still standard.  The cover letter should introduce you, briefly
summarize you education and qualifications and be specific to the job you
are applying for.  The cover letter is a chance for you to state why you
feel this job is perfect for you.  It is critical but one page should be
plenty of space.  Have friends inside and outside the museum field read over
it.
