This question is specifically for Native American
museums that have received NAGPRA or other
repatriation-based objects into their collections --
or those of you who may be able to help with this
issue.
I'm developing a collections policy for the tribe I
work for, and am trying to wrap my mind around the
issue of repatriated objects that will be returned,
but not cared for within the museum.
How are other museums dealing with cataloging these
items, so that they will be identified if stolen
again, but are never going to be exhibited, or even
shelved in the museum itself.
Do you, Native American Museums, have policies
relating to this subject, and if so, please respond.
Thank you all!
