Concerning Greg Hansel's forwarded information on Undeveloped Film and
Security Scanners - Worldwide:
I have traveled domestically three times since 9/11 with as many as 75 rolls
of undeveloped Kodachrome in my carry-on each time. I did this because I was
advised that I could request hand inspection.
Request yes, but don't expect security to comply. Under the current crisis
conditions, security is suspect of any abnormal circumstances. I have met
with limited patience in some airports. Security officials are not there to
protect your film. I was told to put the film through the x-ray or get out
of the way. So far, my film has not been damaged, but for the future I have
decided to either ship it ahead or buy film on site.
