Stateside, I would say the Field Museum in Chicago...that's where it all
started for me. My parents took me to see the King Tut exhibit when I was
seven and I knew I wanted to be involved in archaeology ever since.
International, I would agree with Piper whole-heartedly and say the
Pitt-Rivers in Oxford! Although it is so completely packed with museum-ey
goodness, I fear that overnight would not be nearly long enough.
And although I could imagine up quite a menu for my late night escapades, to
be honest, I would say my back pack would have a couple cereal bars, trail
mix and/or dried fruit. Oh, and Diet Mountain Dew for added nocturnal
'Zip!!!'
...oh, and Rich, I understand! I always get very territorial about wherever
I am working and convince myself I just choose to suffer other people being
there. Be such a wonderful place without the visitors...aren't I kind and
munificent to allow them in? Then I hear see or hear someone having the
kind of shaping moment that I had at the Field Museum and feel like a
complete heel for thinking about hoarding the wonder.
