The Western Museums Association is targeting museum
professionals and individuals working in cultural
institutions throughout the Pacific region to participate in
the 1994 Annual Meeting in Honolulu.
The conference will address issues raised by location--those
of indigenous peoples and their interpretation,
cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary understanding, and the
need to reexamine the Western conceptual framework of art,
culture, history and human achievment. the program will be
designed to address issues and techniques relevant to
beginning through experienced museum professionals
representing all areas and operations. Dialogue and exchange
among representatives of cultural facilities from many
Pacific region countries will be facilitated. Since this is
the first WMA conference to be hled in Hawaii, conference
participants will also have the opportunity to experience
and iscover the many diverse museums and facilities in the
Honolulu area.
