With all due respect to the hiring organization and much appreciation that
they laid out the payrate right up front, I can't help but feel incredible
empathy for the person who takes on this position. Hired to work part-time
hours, they are going to be expected to accomplish the work of a couple of
full-time employees and will probably put in an inordinate amount of unpaid
time trying to get the job done right. After taking on a 2nd p-t job to
survive, they should be on the path to burning out real soon. It seems to
me that small non-profits survive on the volunteer hours that their
employees put in.
A little warning for those thinking about entering this field - make sure
you marry someone who makes a living wage, so he/she can finance your
career.
Can you tell its Monday morning!
