Lisa,

You might look at fluted polypropylene (Coroplast) sheeting. We use it for
making archival quality boxes. It is lightweight comes in various
thicknesses/strengths. I would contact a local sign maker's supply for more
information on availability in your area.

For reasons of fire safety and better air circulation, you might consider
using half sheets or smaller pieces over the wire decking only as needed.
It might also be prudent to avoid using large quantities of polyethylene
foam (Ethafoam) as it has a lower melting point, and perhaps a lower
ignition temperature (I stand to be corrected).

I think linoleum has poor "bursting strength", but that's a supposition on
my part.
