I've come up with a great compromise scenario for the
late tours that could be a dynamic fund raiser.
Knowing the long hours the museum employees put forth
in the name of their institution and for the (already
too tired subject of) low wages, I'm convinced the
LAST thing many of you want to do is to smile at a
late tour group at quitting time!
By the same token, you don't want to seem inflexible
or to turn around potential supporters.
So, you make this a money making venture!
You let the late tours in. All of them. Then you
lock them inside at closing time, refusing to release
them, and hold them ransom until somebody bails them
out!
Look at all the grants you won't have to raise. All
the donor mailings you won't have to send out. All
the pledges that don't get honored but will get
fulfilled or you won't let the tourists out!
Course you won't have to write grants in jail, either,
but that's another issue.
. . . Sorry, the devil got the better of me inspired
by the venerable Mr. Weeks!
