Even more than an owner's rep, museums building new facilities need an
environmental consultant specifically for the collections. This usually is
in addition to any conservation professional you have on staff or is
consulting with your museum. This person will be know all about chillers,
air filtration, and where ducts need to go to optimize collection care.
Architects usually dislike these people -- who are able to tell you exactly
why you lost 7' in storage space, or how to avoid the same air from the
restaurant mingling with your valuable objects. When we were redoing a
museum in New York, we used Bill Lull, out of Princeton Junction, NJ. Have
