I have greatly enjoyed the conversations and advice given to those
finishing their degrees and taking their first steps into employment. I
was wondering what advice you would give to someone wanting to make a
career change into the museum field - particularly if they were not in a
position to get an advanced degree, have no previous museum experience
(other than as a member/ visitor with a strong love of museums), but do
have a solid business/ finance background. Starting at entry level (or
sub-entry level if there is such a thing) is understood to be a given, but
what skills/ strengths from the for-profit world would a museum be most
interested in?
Thank you in advance for your help and I would be more than happy to
provide greater career/ experience details off-list.
