You might want to look at two publications: "The Gift of History," a pamphlet
available from the American Association for State and Local History, and "The
Presence of the Past," a book by Roy Rosenzweig and David Thelen (NY:
Columbia University, 1998). If you can find a copy, also look at "Profile of
Travelers Who Participate in Historic and Cultural Activities," Travel
Industry Association of America, 1997.
You didn't say where you are, but your location, etc., will affect the kind of
projections that you can make.

I will soon make a case to the City Council for a gift
of land and would like to support my presentation with
museum statistics.
Information such as the number of visitors to museums
versus sporting events; the number of adult museum
visitors for each child; and so forth. Any information
that supports the concept of establishing a museum is
requested.
Thanks.
