In my opinion, this is a good journal and worth having.
The $45 price is the cost of an institutional subscription
without membership in the American Anthropological Association.
Have you thought about asking any of the museum or Anthropology
staff at your school if they subscribe and would be willing to
donate their copies to your library.  (In difficult financial times
one must get creative.)  The cost of an individual subscription
(as opposed to an institutional one) is $30 without membership in
the AAA and the cost to AAA members is $25.
