Program Coordinator
The City of Ketchikan Museum Department seeks an energetic, self-starting
individual to fill this challenging, multi-faceted position. Among other
duties, the job involves: writing and editing newsletter, media releases,
etc.; design and implementation of educational outreach programs; public
relations; and participation in planning, development, and administration of
Northwest Coast Native Arts classes and other programs.
Must have superior communication skills & demonstrated ability to relate to
and communicate with culturally diverse communities. Excellent time and
project management skills. Facility with computers required. Experience
with graphics programs highly desirable. Related degree and experience
required.
The City of Ketchikan Museum Department operates two museums: the Tongass
Historical Museum, a small, general community museum; and the Totem Heritage
Center, a museum and Native cultural center with a world-renowned collection
of 19th century totem poles and active programs in the art and culture of
the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian Indian people.
Ketchikan is Alaska's southernmost city. An island community of 15,000, it
is just 1.5 hours by air from Seattle. Vibrant arts, spectacular scenery,
