Another view:
The "Former Board Member" raising hell may have legitimate gripes. What is
the rest of the board is unaware or afraid to take on the Executive
Director? I have seen situations where problems with a non-profit's
Director came out very slowly, since the facts of a bad situation were not
known by all.
To me, the bottom line is that the "former board member" needs a hearing.
Because of his former service with the organization, his view should be
considered and his opinions listened to.
I say again, what if the person raising hell is right about the Executive
Director??
--my two cents.

For the Board to be silent, even if the attacks are frivolous, is to
give the impression that the accusations have some foundations. In my
opinion, the Board should issue a statement as to it's position on the
issues and the reasons behind their stand. The statement should not
get into what we used to call "a pissing contest" of counter
accusations. This will let the public make up its own mind as to
which side to believe.
My 2 cents,
