Another two cents' worth here - the problem I have noted with acrylic
mediums is that they stay sticky forever. In fact, in my other life I have
done some manuscript gilding using acrylic medium as the sizing. Works a
treat because it's sticky. I also have some cheapo particle board furniture
at home that I painted with latex house paint about thirty years ago. It's
still sticky. I'd be hesitant to recommend using something like this on
museum furniture.
