Dear Fiona Price,
Three things will get that residue off without harming the glass. One,
believe it or not, is vegetable oil used with elbow grease, with detergent
clean-up. Another is Goo-gone, a citrus-based product found in stores with
large selections of cleaning products. The third, and most toxic, but also
the most effective, is Bestine, a thinner of rubber cement. It is sold at
commercial art supply stores. Be sure and use gloves and a respirator, or do
the cleaning outside. None of these products will harm glass. Good luck!
Cordially,
Paul N. Pallansch,
