Allison,
I know these are not exactly 10th century, but perhaps these museums
could provide you with information on the general concerns with the
exhibition of human remains.
See if you can contact anyone at the City of London museum. The first
time I was in there was back in 1987. I walked in and instantly I was
face to face with the "bog man". Even for an adult, it was a very uneasy
experience, at first. There was also a book published on the same called
"Life and Death of a Druid Prince" that may have some useful information
for you.
Also, the British Museum.
Last year in Kansas City there was a fascinating exhibition with an
Egyptian mummy, complete with x-rays and CAT scans. It was at the
Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. I'm not certain; but, I believe that
exhibition had a connection with the Metropolitan in NYC.
I am interested in what you discover for your paper.
