Hi all,

A thorough study was undertaken by Dr. Annegret Nippa, the Director of the
Ethnology Museum in Dresden, Germany, of a collection of old phtographs
taken by the renouned traveller Herman Burkhardt, during his wanderings in
Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Syria and the surrounding regions. She wrote a
thorough analysis of all the photographs taken in Ba'labek, Lebanon, which
numbered about 2,000 photos.
The book is written in German, and contains a lot of photographic details
which helped the author to interpret them. This reference should have some
useful background on the methodological and theortical aspects of this
study.
Unfortunately, the reference information is not available at this moment of
time, but will be happy to provide it, if requested.
Hope this can be of help.

Abdullah Alsharekh, Ph.D.
