Does anyone know of resources (Web, print, other) which discuss the spectrum
of tools/methods involved in communicating with visitors? Everything from
pre-visit marketing brochures and billboards to on-site labels, signage,
information booths & kiosks, printed facility guides (brochures/booklets),
audio guide devices, building directories, interpretive services,
color-coded hallways, nature trail signs, parking lot markings, etc.
This certainly would include wayfinding; but it seems the total
communications process involves much more than just wayfinding.
In non-museum settings, it might even include tools such as video monitors
displaying current/changing information (e.g., flight status displays in an
airport).
Thanks in advance for your help.
