Subject: Challenges Facing Art Museums
As part of a background paper for a meeting centered on art museums, I am
looking at the challenges facing art museums, especially the social
pressures. Do you have ideas, references, EXAMPLES, etc. to answer a
question such as:
--What are the most successful strategies in art museums for handling
controversial exhibitions and censorship issues? [CAN ANYONE NAME MUSEUMS,
ESPEC. ART MUSEUMS, THAT HAVE AVOIDED PROBLEMS IN SPECIFIC WAYS]
Many thanks, in advance.

PS A very good book on the recent Brooklyn controversy is Rothfield, L.

Museum of Art Controversy (New Brunswick: Rutgers University Press)
