Collections Cataloguer
Canterbury Shaker Village, a National Historic Landmark, seeks a Collections
Cataloguer to create enhanced catalogue records for 6,000 objects. Records
will be entered into a new PastPerfect database. The Cataloguer will be
responsible for working with staff to identify objects, assess their
condition, take digital images, research provenance and related
information, collate new information with existing paper records, gather
information from humanities scholars who will assess each collection area,
and create catalogue records.
Canterbury Shaker Village is situated on a rolling hilltop surrounded by
694 acres of fields, woodlots and ponds. CSV provides an ideal location
that is only minutes away from lakes and trails, and only an hour from the
White Mountains, Portsmouth, the New Hampshire seacoast, and Boston.
Applicants should be enthusiastic, flexible, detail oriented and have
experience with museum cataloguing and collection management practices.
M.S. in Museum Science or M.A. in Museum Studies or related field required;
experience with PastPerfect desired.
This 2-year position will begin in late May or early June 2001. The salary
range will be upper 20's to low 30's, depending upon applicant’s education,
experience and abilities. Housing may be included as part of compensation
