I've done a bit of recent research on interpretive planning. The one book in
print that I found is Interpretive Master Planning by John A Veverka. Useful
websites you might check our are:
Steps for an Interpretive Plan
http://www.sfasu.edu/ag/arboretum/PGM/signage/Signage-5.htm
National Association for Interpretation
http://www.interpnet.com/
Veverka Associates Library (includes several articles about interpretive
planing) http://www.heritageinterp.com/library.htm
National Park Service Interpretive Development Program (click on
"Competencies" to see training modules - #310 is on Interpretive Development
http://www.nps.gov/idp/interp/
In searching the web for references to Interpretive Plans, I most commonly
found references related to National and State Park sites, natural history
museums, aquaria and similar institutions.
The Exemplary Interpretation: Characteristics and Best Parctices Seminar
Handbook (available from AAM - contact the Professional Education Department
at 202-289-6578)is a huge binder included a great variety of resource
material related to interpretation, including the Chicago Horicultural
Society's Interpretive Master Plan.
