Here, here Mark. For years archeologists have "abandoned" collections in museums with no continuing support for curation, building replacement, upgrading of catalogs, repackaging, and all those things which such collections need. Only recently have several federal agencies really tried to address this matter - I have been harping at the feds for years, both as a former state archeologist and as a museum director saddled with huge federal collections in a former position.
Writing to your legislator and fighting for better budgets and stronger laws is the only realistic way to address this problem - complaining to the List isn't going to help. Being indignant is going to help. Take some action if you truly believe that such collections warrant better treatment.
