I work for a small museum and I will try to answer your questions as it
relates to the museum I work for.
1. School tours are broken down into $3.00 for 1 hour tours and $4.00 for
90 minute tours.
2. 90 minute tours include a performance-based activity relating to the
school curriculum. In Maryland it's called MSPAP.
3. We have one grant funded tour that we offer to low-income area schools
at $1.00 per student.
4. Last year we averaged close to 4,000 students coming through the museum.
5. We average 1 to 2 adults tours per month. We also offer two specialty
tours geared to adult visitors during the year.
6. I have one paid and 2 volunteer tour guides plus muself who give school
tours.
7. As a small museum, my job requires that I take responsibility from
designing curriculum to coordinating tours.
8. I work generally Monday through Friday and during the months I have
scout programs Saturdays.
9. We are too small for a dedicated line.
10. As education coordinator, I am responsible for training the tour guides.
I hope this helps you. Ellie
