FALL 2001 INTERNSHIP: RESEARCH AND EVALUATION
The Institute for Learning Innovation is seeking candidates for a
three-month paid internship as a Research and Evaluation Assistant.. The
Institute, a non-profit organization committed to understanding,
facilitating, and communicating about free-choice learning, works with
museums and other community-based institutions world-wide to conduct
research and evaluation projects that further our understanding of
free-choice learning. We define free-choice learning as that learning
which most typically occurs while people visit museums or other cultural
institutions; watch television; read a book, magazine, or newspaper; talk
with friends; attend a play; surf the Internet; or engage in other
activities in which they learn.
The three-month fall internship begins in September or early October 2001.
Start and end dates can be tailored to accommodate the intern's schedule.
The Research and Evaluation Assistant will work on a variety of projects
including the evaluation of museum exhibitions and/or programs, as well as
the evaluation of community-based and/or technology-based programs. Past
interns have been involved with projects such as a front-end evaluation of
an exhibition at the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum and a summative
evaluation of a state-wide program in Pennsylvania designed to diversify
interpretation and audiences at historic sites and museums.
