Hello,
I am the graduate intern in the School Programs and Gallery Interpretation
Department at the Dallas Museum of Art. I am hoping to contact some docent
coordinators, or others who deal with docent scheduling, through the list.
At the DMA, we are currently examining our docent program policies and, as
part of this process, we are interested in discovering how other museums
handle tour scheduling and leaves of absence. We also would be interested
in any information that you could give us relating to the numbers of active
docents at your museum versus docents on leave, and if you could give us a
sense of how many new docents continue in your program for more than a year
or two. Another issue that we are looking into involves what can be done
when a docent is scheduled for a tour and then for some reason can not make
it. What have you found to be an efficient process for finding replacements
and who is responsible for carrying that out?
Any information that anyone could provide on the above issues would be
greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Andrea M. Morrill
