Hi Mark,

First, I DID NOT attend school in the 1940's, but one of my elementary
school buildings was very old with desks on runners and holes for ink wells.
It was like culture shock for me having attending a "modern" school up until
we moved to another district.

There were no lockers in the hallway. Instead, there was a cloak room at the
rear of the classroom. It was a long hallway with a row of coat hooks and
boxes or shelves for boots, bags, etc. It was separated from the classroom
with wall and a door for entry. Thanks for the memories.

Ren, a Chinese cardinal virtue, stands for benevolence and universal
empathy, encompassing five values of courtesy, magnanimity, good faith,
diligence and kindness--simply translated, it means humanity.
