Curator Position
San Jose Museum of Art
The San Jose Museum of Art, founded in 1969 and located in the heart of
Silicon Valley, is seeking an experienced curator to actively participate in
the Museum's thriving exhibition program. Working closely with the chief
curator and curatorial team, educators, installation crew, and other staff
members, the curator will curate and coordinate a diverse range of
exhibitions that relate to 20th-century art, with a special emphasis on
contemporary art. Duties of the curator will include planning, budgeting,
researching, and overseeing the installation of internally generated
exhibitions, as well as traveling exhibitions organized by other
institutions; providing scholarly contributions to exhibition catalogues and
brochures; preparing and giving public lectures; and working closely with
the Museum's registrar to build, promote, and manage the permanent
collection. M.A. degree in art history required, Ph.D. preferred. A minimum
of four years of curatorial experience in the arts, and a thorough knowledge
of museum practices required. Submit resume, cover letter, three references,
