Our main gallery, Clara M. Eagle, hosts a biennial faculty (15) exhibition.
We are part of the art department so it is expected to showcase student and
faculty work, not exclusively of course. One interesting thing I have done
is to include our art historians in the event. One has studio experience
and sometimes shows art and the other has made presentations on current
research. In the past they were not included. We also invite adjuncts to
participate.
Our faculty show is not curated, or juried. I mentioned that we might
consider that approach once when I first arrived in '90 and discovered it
was not a good avenue to pursue.
One respondent mentioned late arrivals and substitutions, not unheard of in
my experience. The dynamics of our faculty show are changing too I think.
We have five new faculty who work differently that their predecessors and I
would not be surprised it the biennial cycle changes to a longer interval.
Right now it alternates with a biennial alumni show.
