Greetings to all.
I am looking for an internship or visiting scholarship to augment my
studies - I'm a PhD student in the history of science (MA in history of
science, MSc 'technically' in mathematics), with a particular interest
in the connections between science (structural mechanics, geometry,
algebra, perspective) to building, urban design and architecture. More
generally, I am interested in scientific instrumentation and
experimental/observational science from antiquity to roughly 1750, and
aspire to become a curator in that field.
It has to be a funded position since my university isn't able to pay for
very much - unless a charitable trust fund can be found. These are
rather scarce in my part of the world, and tend to be very specifically
targetted.
Unfortunately my countries (Australia and New Zealand) don't have
museums with any interest in those fields - these countries didn't exist
back then, so there are but few relics to collect, and (surprisingly)
little interest in our scientific heritage.
Any suggestions as to where I might look?
In a related vein, would anyone know whom to write to at the
Museum Boerhaave about internships and visiting scholarships?
