Senior Curator/Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art
SEARCH RE-OPENED
The University of Michigan Museum of Art seeks an experienced curator
to direct the Museum's growing exhibition program in modern and
contemporary art (1970 to the present) and shape collections in this
area. The Curator will be responsible for organizing exhibitions,
proposing acquisitions, and cultivating collectors and potential
donors interested in contemporary art. The Curator will be
responsible for shaping the Museum's program in contemporary art
through contacts with dealers, artists, collectors, museum patrons,
and members of the University community, and through innovative
exhibitions and judicious additions to the collections. The Curator
will also join the Museum at a time of unprecedented growth, in
staffing and budget, and as plans proceed for a major building
expansion.
Requirements: Masters degree in History of Art/Visual Studies or
comparable field: Ph.D. preferred. Three to five years working in a
museum or equivalent experience in contemporary art. Prior experience
in a university setting is desirable. Significant experience working
with diverse constituencies, including artists, collectors, donors
and the general public.
