At the risk of being flamed I am not sure I understand Roger's `faintly'
antagonistic attitude. The possibility of registering this TLD was mentioned
on various lists quite a while back. Having scanned the info at the URL
given it seems to me that ICOM and Cary have put a hell of a lot of work
into this proposal and ?once? off opportunity and should be congratulated
and encouraged in their efforts to secure .museum, etc for use by museums.
Let's get it registered and see how it works. If MDMA does things we don't
like by becoming members we'll have a say in changing their policy at a
later stage.
I encourage members to go to http://www.icann.org/tlds/mus1/ , click on
public comment forum, and give a positive response. Up to now, although I
posted a positive response a while back, only the `global' museum responses,
?deliberately? negative at the top with some positive responses further down
and a negative response from the music industry appear.
Are those of us in favour just passive or is there really a general
opposition to registering this (these) TLD's?
I look forward to the responses (flames)
