The International Council of Museums (ICOM) is holding its Triennial
General Conference in Barcelona, Spain, from 1 to 6 July 2001, with the
general theme of "Managing Change: museums facing economic and social
challenges".

All attending are invited to join in the meetings and activities of
ICOM's International Committee for the Training of Personnel (founded in
1968). This medium-size (and very friendly!) International Committee
brings together a wide range of both professionals, teachers and managers
concerned with all aspects of museum professional education, training and
career development.

Highlights of our programme include:
MONDAY 2 JULY
9.30 am - 11 am: Museum training in Spain: overall review and specific
reports
11.30am - 2 pm: ICTOP Members' papers and reports
4.30 pm - 6.30 pm: ICTOP members' papers and reports
TUESDAY 3 JULY
9-30 am to 4pm: Excursion by train to Girona. We will visit the University of Girona and hear about its Museology programme, and also visit the historic centre of Girona - one of most important and best preserved historic cities in Catalonia; light lunc
h before we get the train back.
4-30 pm to 6.30 pm: Joint session with ICMAH (International Committee for Museums of Archaeology & History), to discuss training needs of archaeology and history museums and their staff, and possible future cooperation.
7 pm to 11 pm: ICTOP annual dinner - details to be finalised. (Additional charge - details and bookings in the 11 am coffee break during the opening of the ICTOP programme on the Monday morning.)
WEDNESDAY 4 JULY
9 am to 2 pm: Joint symposium with ICOFOM (Museology) and INTERCOM (Management) International Committees on the policy, management and training implications of new trends in museum organisation and management (reflecting the main ICOM 2001 General Confere
nce theme). There will be one keynote speaker from each Committee plus two panelists from each to lead the discussion on the other Committees' contributions.
4-30 pm to 6 pm. ICTOP Triennial General Assembly - reports, election of new Board for 2001 - 2004, future plans and policies.

building of the Barcelona Congress Centre (ICOM Conference Headquarters)
