To protect old photos in a flat bed scanner, or on a photo copier, I suggest
using a piece of UV filter glass, or plastic.  I don't know if this has been
tested, but since florescent bulbs emit the highest levels of UV rays, and
its Florissant bulbs used in these types of equipment, it makes since to me.
But is just a suggestion.
