Hello All,
Our all-volunteer Properties Committee here at the Stanly County Museum
hands out "Preservation Awards" annually to residents of Stanly County who
have made efforts to restore/preserve historic structures. I have been
urging them to create a more objective form by which to judge the properties
-- say values for things like original windows v. modern windows,
appropriate paint colors for style and era, etc. Has anyone created a
similar form to compare entries? Right now, the only distinction the
Committee starts with is dividing the structures by function -- residential,
religious, commercial, etc. I want the Committee to avoid voting for the
one they "like" the best, and I hope that a form with established values
might encourage this. Any advice will be appreciated.
