for a panel discussion with
Jean Yi
Teaching Associate of photography at San Jose State University,
Photography Instructor with the Older Adult Studies Program at De Anza College
and President of the Board at Works/San Jose Art & Performance
Sasha Yungju Lee
Artist who examines critical issues affecting the roles and identities of
women and Asian Americans, exhibiting at the
Triton Museum of Art from May 5 - June 7, 2000.
Ms. Lee focuses on the intersection of mainstream culture and minority
experience through a platform of popular mass media.
and
Susette Min
University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Berkeley,
independant curator and scholar of contemporary Asian American Art.
Panelists will consider Sasha Lee’s work as a point of departure
for a conversation concerning pressures facing women and artists
from other cultures. Issues of assimilation, conflicted identity,
minority experience, and notions of beauty will be considered.
The opening reception for Ms. Lee’s exhibition
New Works by California Artists
will immediately follow the ArtTalk.
