Has anyone been to the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose, CA? There
you can take a tour of a real facsimile phaoronic tomb! Very impressive
when I was 9 or so and it's still pretty neat today.
Also: the dioramas at the old Steinhardt Acquarium in SF. Totally uncool
now, I've learned, but it was a great place to get at least some idea of
other lands and peoples. The ones at the NY Museum of Natural History
really can't compare--too didactic. Of course, not much tops the blue
whale or the canoe (which my dad (b. 1915) saw there when he was a tyke.
