Hello Everyone,
I'm particularly interested in asking for advice on the best way to begin
planning for an exhibit. I have an exhibit idea in mind and because I'm
not in Museum Studies or Art History, I feel a bit intimidated to approach
anyone about curating it.
However, after working on three exhibits--one as a curatorial assistant at
a cultural center in New York City and two others as a co-curator for the
special collections library at my university where I worked--I've been
interested in developing my own show based on research I've been doing in
the areas of art and popular culture.
I imagine I should just put together a proposal, but I was wondering how
difficult it would be to get such a project off the ground if one is not
affiliated with a museum or cultural center.
Any suggestions on how I may think of beginning?
Thanks!
