My most unforgettable exhibit experience has to be the old wax museum near
Dallas. They had wax figures of the principals of the Kennedy
assassination: JFK, Jackie, Oswald, even John Connaly. The Oswald figure
was particularly impressive. They posed him holding a rifle with a very
sinister expression on his face. None of them looked much like the people
they portrayed, either. They also listed all sorts of comparisons between
Kennedy & Lincoln (both had Southern VP's named Johnson, Kennedy's
secretary was named Lincoln and Lincoln's was named Kennedy, elected in
1960 and 1860 respectively, etc.) The whole thing was a hoot. The museum
caught fire about 13 years ago, a particularly tragic event if your
holdings are primarily wax. I cherish the postcard featuring the exhibit
that I bought as a souvenir.
